Each letter x 10

1 Aug

“Whoever reads a letter from the Book of Allaah, he will have a reward. And that reward will be multiplied by ten. I am not saying that “Alif, Laam, Meem” is a letter, rather I am saying that “Alif” is a letter, “laam” is a letter and “meem” is a letter.”
[Narrated in at-Tirmidhi]

This is a deed that is often overlooked and not implemented upon on a regular basis. Subhaan’Allaah imagine the reward one would get by reciting even just a page from the mus-haf. I was thinking about this while reciting soorah al-Kahf, imagine this: this soorah has 6,360 letters, times that with 10 and you have earned yourself a total of 63,600 rewards!  Think about how easily you can add to your depository of good deeds. Indeed, sins have been beautified but only for those whose hearts are void of the remembrance of Allaah. Whereas, those who keep their tongues busy with the recitation of Qur’aan are only elevated in ranks in both this dunya and the aakhirah.
