What is the Friday Vault of Deeds?
Verily! Man is in loss,
Except those who believe (in Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, and recommend one another to the truth (i.e. order one another to perform all kinds of good deeds which Allah has ordained, and abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds), and recommend one another to patience.[al-`Asr; 2-3]
In the spirit of livening up our Fridays as blessed as they are, I have decided to make a depository of good deeds, small actions that can be done on a weekly basis. It will be updated every Thursday bi idhnillaah.
Why call it the ‘Vault’?
I have called it a vault because good deeds should be kept hidden from people. They are like an elixir that purify our hearts and brings us closer to Allaah, but only when they are done solely for His sake.
Mahmood ibn Lubayd reported that RasoolAllaah sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam said: “For you, my greatest fear is minor shirk.” The companions said: “O Messenger of Allaaah, what is minor shirk?” He replied: “Showing off (ar-riyaa’), for verily Allaah will say on the Day of Resurrection when people are receiving their rewards: ‘Go to those whom you were showing off to in the world and see if you can find any reward from them.’” (Ahmad, at-Tabaraanee, al-Bayhaqee)
Ibn ‘Abbas radiyAllaahu `anh said: “Riyaa‘ is more hidden than a black ant on a black stone in a dark night.”
So let’s purify our intentions and compete with each other only in that which will beautify our souls and our aakhirah.
And march forth in the way (which leads to) forgiveness from your Lord, and for Paradise as wide as are the heavens and the earth, prepared for Al-Muttaqun.
Those who spend [in Allah’s Cause – deeds of charity, alms, etc.] in prosperity and in adversity, who repress anger, and who pardon men; verily, Allaah loves Al-Muhsinun.
The Vault:
- Even a smile..
- Each letter x 10
- Can you save yourself from Hell-Fire?
- Want the company of RasoolAllaah?
- Get your cleaning gloves ready!
- How much do you Love the Messenger [sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam]?
- “My Lord, do not let them overpower me..”
- You are most beloved to me..
